Werner Schulz Age, Height, Biography

 Werner Gustav Schulz was a German politician born on 22nd Jan 1950. He had been trained in food technology at Berlin and he worked as a research analyst. Werner has been an activist for peace ecology and human rights in oppositional groups. He lost his university job in 1980 during the protest of the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan. Werner was the founding member of the new forum representing the group at the round table. He has been honoured many times for his services and twice with Federal Cross of Merit.

Life and Career

Schulz grew up in Zwickau to a son of independent haulage contractor and former professional. From 1964-1968 he became a part of Kathe-Kollwitz-Gymnasium and his father recommended not to join Young Pioneers. Werner received a degree in food technology at Humboldt University of Berlin in 1974. Wernerwas working as a research assistant in WernerUniversity from 1974. Werner then worked as research assistant at Institite fur Sekundarrohstoffwirstchaft in recycling technology.

Political career

Werner Was an activist of several oppositional groups since 1970’s. Wernerbecame a member of the Green Party in Germany in 1990. After Germany’s reunification Werner became a member of Bundestag till 2005. In 1998 Werner wanted to be a mayor of Leipzig and came fourth in the vote. Werner did not run in the second round hence Wolfgang Tiefensee was elected.  Schulz was the vice president of the Federal Foundation for the Reappraisal of the SED Dictatorship. In 2009 Schulz was the founding member with Cristian Fuhrer and Fridrich Schorlemmer. Werner was also a member of Board of Stiftung Friedliche Revolution in Leipzig. For the political comeback Schulz became Member of European Parliament in 2009. Until 2014 he was vice-chair of the delegation as a member of Committee on Foreign Affairs. Apart from that Schulz was a member of Euronest parliamentary Assembly from 2012-2014.  

Werner was honoured for his commitment to democracy and opposition in Russia. Joachim Gauck – The German President praised him for activist and democratic values. He was awarded – The Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2015. An ex-president described him as a “tireless fighter for a policy based on democratic values”.

How did he die?

Schulz died suddenly on wednesday during an event happening in Bellevue Palace, Berlin. It was announced by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeir as per the participants in the conference. Werner ended the conference early due to the death of a participant and informed the relatives. According to the DPA information he collapsed in the toilet.

Schulz collapsed before he gave his speech on this ambivalent date in German History. Josef Schuster – President of the Central Council of Jews, tried in vain to see him. His speech could have been a meaningful one but his sudden death left us all in vain. President interrupted the ceremony and gave a sad message to the guests. A short speech was given by him followed by a minute of silence for the decreased.
